The mission of the East African Association for Palaeoanthropology and Palaeontology (EAAPP) is to strengthen prehistory research in eastern Africa through uniting palaeoanthropologists and palaeontologists and other relevant scholars in prehistory studies within the region.
CONFERENCE ANNOUNCEMENT AND CALL FOR ABSTRACTS:
On behalf of the EAAPP Secretariat we wish to announce the upcoming sixth EAAPP conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from July 30th to August 2nd 2017. The conference will be organized in coordination with the Authority for Research and Conservation of Cultural Heritage (ARCCH) of the Ethiopian Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The aim of this conference is to bring East African, other African, and international researchers, scientists, museum curators, and cultural resources managers together in a forum to present current research findings, exchange scientific information and discuss current research development, museum ethics, policy, and practice.
The Secretariat of the EAAPP and the ARCCH are planning sessions dedicated to research papers addressing issues in palaeoanthropology, archaeology, palaeontology and palaeoenvironments. In addition, other sessions are designed to address issues regarding funding, public understanding and engagement, policies affecting field and laboratory research, collection management, the Pan-African vision, and technical challenges that researchers face.
Finally, a session is planned to provide a forum for students and junior scholars to discuss issues regarding training, research opportunities and other questions with regard to their career advancement. This will enable the students to directly interact with senior researchers from across the globe thus providing a rare opportunity to learn and forge collaborations.
We are hereby calling for abstracts up to 300 words on any of the listed themes. The abstracts should be submitted online at http://bit.ly/eaapp2017abstract no later than February 15, 2017. Late abstracts will not be accepted. Please note that a person MAY NOT be the senior author on more than one abstract. Notification of abstract acceptance or rejection will be communicated on March 15, 2017.
